WTF? The movie is not even in production, but there already seems to be an official poster out there?
I’d love to see this movie become reality! It would be awesome to see Christian teaming up again with the director of “The Machinist”, Brad Anderson — although I hope they will take better care of Christian’s health this time. The plot synopsis sounds like there is ample opportunity for Christian to tinker with his health once more in order to have a credible physical appearance:
Los Angeles, 2020. Robert Maitland is a highly successful architect. One day, he speeds down the freeway losing control of his car and crashing into the middle of a manmade ‘island’ underneath a freeway intersection. After days of suffering agonising physical pain and the mental turmoil, he begins to suspect that he may not be the only person on the ‘island’. When his fellow inhabitants finally reveal themselves, it soon becomes clear to Maitland that on this ‘concrete island’, only the strong survive.
“Concrete Island” is based on a work by J.G. Ballard, who also wrote the autobiographical piece “Empire of the Sun” which turned into Christian Bale’s first movie and the foundation of his amazing career. So this would be a reunion on multiple levels, and I’m thrilled that the project seems to pick up steam. I go buy the novel now to shorten the wait!

I think I will have to get the book too, I’m too excited! : )
Yep, me too …
I started the book yesterday
