“Furnace” follows an ex-con (Bale) who must choose between his newfound freedom and avenging the death of his younger brother (Affleck).
Saldana is in talks to play Bale’s ex-wife, a waitress now married to the town sheriff while Robert Duvall is expected to play Bale’s uncle.
Deadline reports that Casey Affleck meanwhile is the front-runner to play the role of the younger brother.
When I first heard of the project I was not keen to see CB play a troubled, angry avenger once more, but it sounds as if the story leaves room enough to develop the main character in an interesting manner.
